Public Training: This course may be available on our public training schedule for individual enrollment. See Training Schedule for upcoming Courses.
Private Training: This course is available for private/custom course delivery for companies or organizations with a group of people that require training.

Is basic chainsaw use a regular part of your work? Do you and your staff have the required documentation showing chainsaw training? Chainsaws are one of the most useful as well as dangerous tools a worker can use. This course is designed to educate personnel who use a chainsaw about safety, maintenance, use and handling. Participants will gain an understanding in what contributes to accidents and how to avoid them.

Hands on and practical work planning strategies, including bucking and limbing, understanding compression and tension and dealing with spring poles will be coached and practiced in this course. Notching and back cutting will be introduced for small tree felling on trees of 6" dbh or smaller. There is a strong focus on personal safety, risk assessment and accident prevention. Training workers and developing skills that reduce variables and mitigate risks associated with chainsaws and cutting techniques is the general theme of this course. To learn and practice felling techniques for trees larger than 6" dbh, mechanical advantage and felling trees with back lean, please go to the Technical Tree Falling & Cutting course. Inexperienced chainsaw operators and/or experienced operators who require updated training. Please note that the material covered in this course is also covered in the 2 day Technical Tree Falling & Cutting course.

Testimonials

I thoroughly enjoyed the Train the Trainer program. The information presented and the learning techniques were brought forward in a challenging, fun way. The course required us to step out of our comfort zone, but the rewards were fabulous. I would recommend this course for several reasons.

I learned about myself and the power of collective energy. I look forward to serving in this platoon but mostly I feel honored to have spent this past week with seven of the coolest trainers I've ever met.
