About Me

Johnny Korthuis was born and raised in southern Alberta and went on to receive his formal training in arboriculture in Victoria, British Columbia. At Davey Tree he moved quickly through the ranks and as a young foreman had his courses and ISA exam sponsored by the company. In 2007 at the age of 19 he went on to start up a hometown based tree care company in Lethbridge AB. He attended several ACTE seminars with his employees and quickly realized he desired a career on the training side of the industry.

An entrepreneur and world traveler who's performed tree work and consulting services on several continents, Johnny maintains his career with trees as a small business owner and independent contractor, ISA Certified Arborist, ISA professional member, Arbor Canada Instructor and NATS site safety supervisor. Aside from these he is also a USPA certified wing-suit skydiving instructor, an NCCP level 2 artistic gymnastics coach, A level 3 WFPF certified Parkour Coach, professional mountain biker, USBA qualified Base Jumper, and an avid rock climber, mountaineer, and scuba diver.

A professional adventure sport athlete, public speaker, and passionate instructor Johnny brings a unique perspective to the world of arboriculture training. His wide reaching expertise and over a decade of hands on experience lends itself to many of the courses across our extensive curriculum. He resides in Alberta and Southern California with his wife Steffanie and son Tyden.
