About Me

In 2018 Kurt Stenberg left behind a 16 year career as a Firefighter-EMT to become an Arborist.  He relocated to Cochrane Alberta where he started his own tree company, Cochrane Tree Care, with his wife Christal.  Kurt learned how to care for trees and confidently start his own business after taking multiple open enrollment courses with ArbCan.  Kurt soon found he had a passion for the "why" when it came to tree care.  Removals and Pruning quickly led to questions about insect and disease management.  Insect and disease management led Kurt underground and into the soil where all life begins.  Soon, Kurt was inspired by the power and complexity of microbial life in our soils and how all life is connected.  This was the "why".

Kurt continued diversifying his understanding of trees, and their interactions with our environment, through a Permaculture Certification (Verge Permaculture).  In 2021 he enrolled in the Landscape-Horticulture program through Olds College.  A diversification in training allowed him to understand other natural and man made systems that interact with trees and how everything influences each other.

Kurt also has a background in Professional Photography and enjoys promoting the Arboriculture Industry through social media collaborations.  @kurtthearborist  @cochranetreecare
