Mark Gaudet
Assistant
About Me
Mark Gaudet lives in Wainfleet, Ontario with his wife Erikka and 2 kids Macy and Maddox. Family climbing time is not unheard of as he enjoys providing his family and friends with experiences in the trees. His connection with arboriculture started at a young age through his mother who works for a municipality, where he would see arborists working and think they had the best job.

After high school Mark debated being a gym teacher but soon realized the Urban Arboriculture program at Humber College was what he really wanted to do. While the content of the program was good, it was the teachers that made it great! This was what inspired Mark to realize that he could be both an arborist and a teacher.

In November of 2011 Mark started working at Arborwood Tree Service Inc and has been working there ever since. He has enjoyed the variety of work over the years and the challenges that come along with variety. In 2014 Mark started as a Technician at Humber College where he was able to teach and encourage students, like other instructors had done for him before. Later Mark became a lead teacher in the program and helped to facilitate change in the climbing systems being taught through the college.

Over the years he has taken numerous Arboriculture Canada courses both hosted in house (at Arborwood) and through open enrollment. In 2017 Mark attended Train the Trainer and was able to learn the teaching techniques that had experienced as a student for years but hadn't ever had explained in detail.

Competitive tree climbing has been a passion of Marks since 2012 when he first competed at the Ontario Tree Climbing Championships. Since then he has competed at many Ontario Tree Climbing Competitions, 3 North American Tree Climbing Competitions and 2 International Tree Climbing Competition events. At his First North American Tree Climbing Competition in 2015 Mark won the Bruce Smith award for the Spirit of the Competition and at his most recent placed 4th overall.

Mark has been able to present at conferences and demo days alongside some of the industry's best instructors,to bring education and training of current and new techniques that attendees YEARN TO LEARN!
